I never use my formal name, Jacqueline.

Please call me Jacki.

I live in Evanston, Illinois, 3 blocks

from the Chicago boundary.

I like hanging out with my standard poodle, Chico.  I also like cooking, art (viewing and creating), doing computer stuff, watching

movies, reading (when I have time), music, and travel  when I can afford it, etc.

Here is a picture of Chico: :

I really like going to the Apple store and learning more about how to create new files, etc.   I recently set up a website.  Here is the address.web.mac.com/j.trademan

(Here is a test to see if I can cut and paste in IPA

ʒŋðθʔɹ...I'm really glad this worked!!)

In the mood for a little music?  Here's a nice tune from Grupo Niche followed by one from Fela Kuti.  I was able to download these songs free from the dogpile website.  So that worked very well.

I have not had equally good luck trying to get my photo story up and running.  I posted it yesterday at around 4:00 and at 7:00 a.m., it still isn't available for viewing. I decided to delete it, and I'll try attaching it again later.  I am looking forward to trying out everything we've learned so far.  I already started to forget some of the great things from the first Day, so I need to do a review every night.  I played around with Audacity a bit last night, but I will make a comment in that section.  On to Wednesday.

Here is my second attempt to attach my photo story.  It's 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday right now, so let's see how long it takes for this to be available.  I don't think I made it private this time...I wonder if that would help?  That did not help, so I am starting over...resaving as a wmv file and going through the process again.  I also accidentally deleted my Voki character, so I have to do that again.

I posted this newest attempt at 11:20 on Wednesday.  I hope it will work.  (IT DOES!!) In the meantime, you can watch this great clip from the "Do You  Speak American" programs on PBS.  This one does work.

The Life of A Teacher

Thursday morning...yesterday was a mixed day for me.  While I felt that the morning discuss was important, it got kind of long and I didn't really have time to practice the video editing at all.  It took time to get signed up, then switching to Safari, and then looking for a video to edit, so I don't feel like I have a good handle on that new material.  I can see from the presentation that it is not complicated, but I'm the kind of learner who needs to go through it or it actually isn't that easy for me.  In the afternoon, I enjoyed working with the exercise/test creators and was able to get done with a couple of exercises. It was very helpful that I already had some things created and saved so I just converted those.  I think that's one thing that takes up time...finding something to work on to practice the program.  I don't just want to grab the first thing I find in my searches, but I don't want to waste time doing a lot of searching either.  I do want to thank all of the instructors who have been so helpful.

Today I tried doing a Hot Potato version of "The Life of a Teacher".  Click on the title at the left to check it out.   I changed the wording a bit, but which version do you prefer?  There are some flaws in this one (the other one too) because I want there to be multiple possibilities for the answer, not just one.  I need to redo this in a different type of exercise...it's really a modified cloze, but it's more like a cloze than a lot of the examples that were shown as examples.  So I will try to do that today.  I also want to work on my Jeopardy game.  By the end of Thursday I was feeling pretty fried.    I see there is a handout called "Avoid Brain Meltdown", and I think I need to read that over.

My final project was creating this Jeopardy game to go along a movie I show to my advanced ESL Writing Class.  I still want to add photos, but this is as far as I got.  There are still a few bugs...
